Taskk.Me is a business-to-business task management system suitable for field service or any logistic-related companies who monitors their assets and job progress. This software aims for less hassle and manual paperwork for some logistic companies that builds up job list, passing it to their drivers and only get to know its results at the end of the day (or month). With Taskk.Me, it is possible for the company to be alert of any job's status in real-time and this will help them to take immediate action to respond in any situation given. A free mobile application for the driver was provided to work with the main software.
Based on one of our successful turnkey project, Taskk.Me takes it into a different approach by turning it into a software-as-a-service (SaaS) business model. This application is one of our first SaaS project in Coolasia (also known as LogisFleet). In a team consist of six, each with their own specialization, this project opens to public after 6 months of planning, development & testing.
Although Taskk.Me is based on one of our existing project, we took a step back and redefined the product's goal. A list of features were noted down by everyone for considration in the future.
Since it's going to open to public, there are some elements we have in the existing project are not applicable for general use. Instead of focusing on one specific company's operation, we targeted field service as our main users.
We looked into some of our competitors who are familiar in this field, and out of 5, we pay close attention to 3 of them.
We did comparison from business-wise to design and technical aspects to identify what has they done so far to solve their customer's problem out there. We have listed down the pros and improvements that can be made which are customization, ease of use and simplicity.
Sitemap has been redefined and expanded to ensure that our development runs smoothly due to change of goals from base project.
In our case, lots of components needs to convert to become dynamic. For that purpose, our lead developer comes up with ERP process flow chart for developers to refer to.
Low-fidelty wireframes are drawn back with newly defined goals and features. This includes both our web and mobile applications at once. This step is still required to confirm if any of these changes will have any impact of user's expectations and usability in their flow.
The next step after confirming the layout and the UX will be the visual design. By using Sketch, the designs are neatly re-created and prototyped with Invision's Craft plugin. With Invision, a high-fidelty prototype was produced and shared among team members to verify its usability and meets the technical specifications.
Since I am in charge for the HTML/CSS, a style guide is not necessacary as I can grab all of these specifications directly in Sketch while for mobile, a simple style guide of colors and fonts are given. Any further details can be obtained easily via Invision.
Upon completing the first draft, a full-scale usability test was conducted by all team members. This is to find any flaws within the application be it user experience-wise or function-wise.
A list of bugs combined with usability problems were listed to take care of. In addition to that, external feedbacks from other parties and actual user (after a soft launch) has also been added.
The team has agreed to keep up with the latest cutting-edge technology so Angular 5 was chosen as the framework for front-end. Another reason for this is for better support with backend's technology are being used. Sometimes I am involved in new feature addition that was not planned in the design. We worked in such a way that the developer comes up with a rough html with working functions, and I patched it up later with CSS that meets the design foundation I crafted for Taskk.Me.
Aside from the main web application, I am also involved in design & developing custom HTML mail templates to be used for backend in email notifications to be sent to the users. As usual, wireframes and design are carefully planned before getting the stakeholder's approval to develop.
A CMS website is required to set up to promote Taskk.Me's service and pricing. With WordPress, this is all made possible with its swift development by using a template we bought. A careful layout and visual with copy was put together before moving it to development (with approval from the Product Owner).
Since we have no copywriter in the team, I was in charge in the copy of the entire project. This includes in CMS website and newsletter marketing. A casual yet formal tone was decided to convey our friendly business brand to public. Texts on call-to-action and description are carefully worded with the goal of high conversion in mind.
Taskk.Me's initial logo and branding wasn't given much attention earlier so this was put aside first since we are lacking of manpower to focus on this matter. When a passionate junior member in design joined the team, he was guided through a complete design process from ideation to final selection. With my guidance, he delivered a complete brand identity for Taskk.Me which I am unable to focus on during the project.
